The second installment of the U.O.X Play series of events has been confirmed to take place on 13 December at the rooftop of Bukit Bintang Plaza. It’s going to be one awesome concert and two of the night’s headliners are Indonesia’s The SIGIT and White Shoes & The Couples Company. Can we get a hell yeah?
White Shoes & The Couples Company is one of Indonesia’s more acclaimed bands. With a retro sound that fuses pop, jazz and funk. Though a mainstay in Indonesia’s indie music scene, WSCC gained international recognition when Rolling Stone listed them as their Top 25 bands on MySpace and AllMusic named them as their one of their crush-worthy bands on 2006. WSCC is signed to Chicago indie label Minty Fresh and this year, they performed at the music fest, South by South West. MySpace here.
The SIGIT stands for “The Super Insurgent Group of Intemperance Talent” and this is yet another Indonesian band which have been getting recognition beyond our regional shores. Their brand of classic, retro rock n’ roll is slightly grungey but totally accessible. They’ve been named Indonesia’s “Hottest Rock N Roll Band” by MTV Trax magazine. In 2007, they signed to Australia’s Caveman label, and toured Down Under as well. MySpace here.
